This is my 1st year as the AUVSI Pathfinder Chairman and I can’t be more proud. The 2013 event exceeded our expectations having the most participants we have ever had. The increase was not just exhibitors, participants and speakers, but people simply wanting to see what our community is all about. More and more people are interested in what unmanned technology is all about with Huntsville, Alabama at the center of that interest.
Our first goal to improve the 2014 Pathfinder Event was not to increase the prices for exhibitors or participants. Specifically for Military and Civilian personnel, we are allowing participation for NO FEE. With the current economic environment, the Pathfinder Chapter is determined to make this the “Biggest Bang for the Buck” you will experience in 2014. The “Bang” will require some big speakers. In 2013, we had speakers from OSD, PEO Aviation, PM UAS, TCM UAS, SOCOM, Air Force, Navy, Marines, AMRDEC, NASA, Congressional and Local Leadership, along with a discussion of UAS in Local Law Enforcement by Dr. Bowman. For 2014 our plan is to concentrate roughly 1/2 day on Huntsville Community and Redstone Arsenal Leadership about their initiatives with Unmanned Systems, then an Academic Panel about new technologies for the unmanned community. Approximately 3/4 of a day will be set aside for the Army’s UAS offices to explain the future direction and potential business opportunities. The remaining time will be dedicated to other interest areas in the unmanned community.
As many of you know, in years past, we invited the many schools that we sponsor to spend 1/2 day at the event showcasing their unmanned projects. This year is no exception and we have several schools that have done some amazing projects that will be part of the eventIn conjunction with Pathfinder, PM UAS will host its fourth annual Technology Forum, providing an opportunity for industry to introduce new technologies. The Pathfinder Chapter of AUVSI is pleased to invite you to a comprehensive symposium with industry leaders detailing the Roadmap to the Future.
